Sometimes we feel like we have felt better before...
And we would also like to have our smile back.
With so many external and internal influences, it is now an art to maintain balance.
Every child knows that we need fruits and vegetables for our health.
I always like to imagine how the sun and earth energy is stored in it and gives us this vital radiance . In Asian countries it is also called Prana or Qui.
If you eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, you will detox faster and that requires more than one outing. Even if you don't do that, you can still support your body.
One of the easiest ways to let go of old things is to detoxify through your skin, your largest organ, as well as your lungs and liver.
Here are my 13 ideas on how to detox, for those who need quick results, easy & cheap:
Hot water
Cold water takes about 6 hours to digest. Warm, boiled water only takes about 1.5 hours. In fact, water doesn't just rush through us.
Everything has to be digested :)
From a chemical point of view, boiling water makes it increasingly thinner and more energetically charged.
Ayurveda recommends drinking boiled water first thing in the morning, as this supports the metabolism perfectly. For the body, it means maximum support with minimal digestive effort . Deposited toxins are removed and you feel fitter, warmer and your digestion works better.
Baking soda foot bath
Detoxifying foot baths are my favorite method in winter. According to Chinese medicine, we carry our entire body on the soles of our feet and can also influence organs through our feet.
I take 1-2 baths a week and fill a small tub with hot water and add a tablespoon of baking soda per liter . Please do not confuse this with soda.
I always buy the purux baking soda online, 6 kg for 13 €. That lasts for a while!
Makes the feet nice and soft.
If you want it more invigorating: 4 tablespoons salt, 2 tablespoons baking soda, 1 tablespoon peppermint, 2 drops rosemary oil, 5 drops lemon oil
Support the lungs
Deep breaths in a calming forest can make us feel and look new within minutes. The forest is simply the lungs of our earth.
If you have time to walk somewhere where it is relatively green and you are not exposed to much exhaust fumes, you can do a little breathing exercise :
First exhale: Empty your lungs and breathe out all the air , you will feel your upper body contracting down to your belly button.
The idea behind this is that you now let as much fresh air into your system as possible. Because we breathe shallowly due to tension and poor posture, etc., we (especially women) mostly only breathe into our chest.
Try to involve your belly more and more in full breathing and you will have more energy.
Aromatherapy and setting up an aroma diffuser could also be an option for you. Some essential oils such as basil, thyme and sage protect and strengthen your lungs and thus your immune system.
Lemon water
Since I started drinking 1-2 glasses of water with the juice of 1-2 lemons in the morning, I have noticed a significant improvement in my metabolism and my skin.
At the beginning I somehow resisted it.
Our liver really thanks us for this. It also improves digestion and surpasses the toilet effect that coffee is supposed to have. Lemon water has wonderful effects on our system, making us alkaline and hydrated, whereas coffee makes us acidic and dehydrated.
Oil pulling
This is also an old Ayurvedic method . We can absorb and release substances quickly through our saliva. Therefore, it is quite smart to use oil to remove the toxins immediately after getting up, as our body has been busy all night getting the waste ready for disposal.
The best oils are (virgin) coconut oil or traditional sesame oil (cold pressed).
Simply put a tablespoon of it in your mouth, move it back and forth between your teeth for 15 minutes. Do not swallow it and then throw it in the trash.
Rinse your mouth briefly with lukewarm water and brush your teeth as normal.
This will also protect and strengthen your gums.
Peelings
Most of the time I just mix raw cane sugar, sea salt with olive or almond oil and 3 drops of vanilla or lemon essential oil . I add enough oil to get the typical peeling consistency and then scrub my whole body with it. There are no limits to creativity, but use more sugar than salt if you are sensitive.
Afterwards I would wash myself with a bar of soap (for example from Klar Seifen ) because it removes all the grease and everything. A normal shower gel cannot do that.
One peeling per week should be enough :)
Abhyanga self-massage
If you want to have a real wellness day, you can combine a brush massage followed by an oil massage.
The brush massage or sisal glove stimulates your metabolism.
Afterwards, you can massage yourself generously, starting with your head and ending with your feet, for example with almond oil.
The oil massage releases deposited toxins in the tissue and stimulates circulation. Toxins find their way out. Let the oil work for another 30 minutes before showering (you may want to put on something old and wash it at 60 degrees afterwards).
Here you have detailed instructions.
8. Bitter herbs
Sweet, salty, umami and fatty are the flavors that make us really happy. Originally, however, we had a lot more of bitter taste in our diet because they were always available. Hardly anyone goes out to collect wild herbs these days. We don't even have to, because they come in bottles and a course of treatment with them shows great results.
Dandelion, for example, promotes the secretion of gall and liver , cleanses the blood and is good for the stomach and intestines. The same applies to milk thistle juice. Nettle juice is good for dehydration. Here is pure dandelion juice and a milk thistle juice mix , which is suitable for a month-long liver treatment and tastes sweet.
Of course, you should seek medical advice if you are unsure.
I personally collect wild herbs in spring and summer and mix them into my juices and smoothies. Some herbs also taste good in salads.
9. Turmeric - Ginger Shot
By now everyone probably knows about the immune booster. Practical and effective!
You need 100 g ginger, 2 oranges, 2 lemons, 1 teaspoon turmeric (powder or fresh), a good pinch of pepper, 1 teaspoon olive oil and 1 teaspoon honey. (All organic if possible)
How to: Wash and peel the ginger and oranges, squeeze the lemons, put everything in the blender, mix, sieve and bottle.
This yields about 300 ml of juice and is much more effective than store-bought shots.
10. Music
Detoxification through music is of course more subtle, but that doesn't mean it's less effective! Think back to a song, a moment when a song lifted your mood , maybe even made you happy.
Music affects our entire being and can have positive or negative effects.
By listening to music or sounds that relax you, you help your cells to get rid of toxins and promote your regeneration. Try the Solfeggio frequencies, meditations, sound bowls, hand pan or another instrument that relaxes you.
Have fun detoxing!
